Roy M. Shoffner Good Citizenship Award
Named in honor of the late Roy M. Shoffner - chapter member, local historian and Editor, The
Enterprise Ledger - it is presented to a high school junior at each of the five high school within
Coffee County who has demonstrated Patriotism, Academic Excellence in American History,
and Good Citizenship both in School and local Community. In addition to a certificate each
recipient receives a Fifty Dollar savings bond and a miniature Liberty Bell. For additional

Flag Certificates
In order to help promote patriotism and encourage the display of the United State Flag, the
Wiregrass Chapter presents Flag Certificates to individuals and organizations who fly "Old
Glory" (other than for the commercial purposes) in the appropriate manner. For additional
information or to make a recommendation for an individual who should be so recognized,
please contact the chapter's Flag Committee Chairman .
Books For Veterans
One of the Wiregrass Chapter's outgoing activities is the collection and distribution of both
hard back and paper back books to Veterans' facilities. Since 2001 the members of the
Wiregrass Chapter have covered some 11,840 miles in the delivery of 6884 books to Veterans
facilities across the State of Alabama and along the Gulf Coast! For additional information on
