"LAND OF GOSHEN"

March 31, 2007 was the centennial celebration of the founding of the Town of Goshen.
Dr. Nelson Gwinn of the Wiregrass Chapter ALSSAR led our group attired in full Scottish dress including his
kilt and playing stirring songs on his bagpipes.  Next came Jonathon Gwinn, youth member of Wiregrass, in
full Boy Scout regalia proudly carrying the modern 50-star American flag.  Next, we had a rank of three
composed of Glenn Nivens of Cahaba-Coosa on the left in his Regimentals and carrying the 15-star Star
Spangled Banner, to his right was Joe Graves of Wiregrass in his Regimentals and carrying the Fort
Moultrie flag and to his right was William Wyatt of Cahaba Coosa in his militia uniform carrying the Francis
Hopkinson flag.  Our next rank of three began with Bob Melton of Cahaba Coosa in his Regimentals carrying
his musket, to his right was Andy Spann resplendent in his Regimentals and boots of Wiregrass with his
'Charlie-ville' musket and to his right was John Kelsoe of Wiregrass in his Regimentals and carrying his
flintlock rifle.  Our final rank consisted of two members with Paige Sormrude, grand-daughter of Bruce
Taylor in her period frock and apron and to her right was Bruce Taylor of Wiregrass in his militia outfit and
carrying his flintlock rifle.  We left the "Land of Goshen" with all participants and onlookers happy and
satisfied.  A deed well done!!
